The Primal Stoner

Just a person trying to be fit while enjoying some of life's pleasures. This will probably be a journal of my snacks and activities and possibly other things I think are cool.

Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple fact that you’ll never get the same moment twice.

A snapshot into my character circa 2010. Some things don’t change and I really do like all the different elements of design.

My latest for Wired:

Levels is on a quest to launch 12 “startups” in just 12 months, and he’s a third of the way home now. One, called Play My Inbox, gathers all the music it finds in your e-mail inbox into a single playlist. Another, called Go Fucking Do It, gives you a…

So for the past 3 weeks I’ve been following starting strength along with working on snatches. Feel like I’m going to stall on press pretty soon and I’ve stalled on snatches for awhile. Sooo much technique for the snatch gawdyum.

What’s weird is I can’t do low bar as my shoulders don’t roll that way? So my warm up sets are fucking brutal. Can’t make it to the gym today, but hopefully I can make up for it tomorrow.

Deadlift has been making much better progress than the squat, albeit I wonder if my deadlift form is starting to slip, and if I’m lacking the hip drive. I feel like I’m doing my best with it though.

Strange how I’ve yet to reach my theoretical 5RM calculated from my actual 1RM from the day before I started SS. I note this since the weight is starting to feel heavy, and I guess I might be getting stronger… IDK I’m enjoying this yet I’d rather be doing calisthenics… Yet this is essentially an overblown leg month so far heheh.

Rambling done.

the waitomo caves of new zealand’s northern island, formed two million years ago from the surrounding limestone bedrock, are home to an endemic species of bioluminescent fungus gnat (arachnocampa luminosa, or glow worm fly) who in their larval stage produce silk threads from which to hang and, using a blue light emitted from a modified excretory organ in their tails, lure in prey who then become ensnared in sticky droplets of mucus.

I went here when I was little, and do you know what the guide said? DON’T PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE WATER CAUSE WE DON’T KNOW WHAT’S IN THERE.
